Wellen Cares: Supporting our Communities
When you’ve spent nearly four decades building homes across New England, you start to see the work differently. You realize that beyond the construction itself, it’s about the relationships formed along the way; the families who trust us, the partners who stand beside us, and the communities that welcome us into their lives.
For everyone here at Wellen, that connection is the real foundation of what we do. Community isn’t just something we work in — it’s something we work for. Our commitment to giving back is woven into our identity as a New England residential and commercial construction company. Every project we take on is rooted in the belief that craftsmanship means more when it contributes to something bigger than ourselves. Through Wellen Cares, our community engagement and philanthropy initiative, our team has found meaningful ways to lend our time, energy, and skills to causes that help change lives.
As we enter the giving and gratitude season, we’re highlighting a few incredible non-profit organizations with which we’ve aligned ourselves and supported over the years.
Camp Jabberwocky: Martha’s Vineyard
If you’ve ever been to Camp Jabberwocky, you know it’s hard to leave without smiling. The camp is a joyful, inclusive place on Martha’s Vineyard where children and adults with special needs come together each summer to experience the simple freedom of play, connection, and belonging.
Each year, Wellen sponsors The Jabberwocky Fishing Tournament, an event that brings campers and volunteers together for a day on the water. Friends and family from across our community donate their boats, their time, and their energy to make the day a success. As Liza Gallagher, Camp Jabberwocky’s Executive Director, shared:
“The support that Wellen Construction provides Camp Jabberwocky each year with The Jabberwocky Fishing Tournament is incredibly impactful on our community. Their contribution makes a real difference in the lives of our campers and volunteers — we are forever grateful.”
For us, those words mean more than any recognition could. Watching our team, families, and friends come together each year is a reminder of what generosity and real community look like.
Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress (MDSC)
The Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress has long been a vital resource for families across the state, offering community, advocacy, and programs that help individuals with Down syndrome reach their fullest potential.
Wellen has been proud to support MDSC through the years, including the involvement of CEO Charlie Gadbois, who served as President of the Board of Directors and helped launch the annual Boston Bruins Alumni Charity Game. The event, now a beloved tradition, has raised over $1 million to support MDSC’s mission and the families it serves.
MDSC’s commitment to empowerment, inclusion, and lifelong opportunity is what makes this organization such a vital part of Wellen Cares—and why we remain honored to support their work.
Bridge Over Troubled Waters: Boston
Bridge Over Troubled Waters in Boston provides safety, shelter, and hope for homeless and high-risk youth. Their work changes lives, and it’s a privilege to support them each year.
For their annual spring fundraiser, Wellen donates a custom-built tree house for the auction. It’s designed and built in collaboration with the winning bidder, and it’s one of those projects that feels especially close to the heart. A tree house represents safety, imagination, and childhood, everything Bridge strives to restore for the young people it serves.
Looking Ahead
The organizations we support remind us what community truly means: lifting one another, sharing what we have, and using our skills to make a difference. None of it would be possible without the families, clients, and partners who continue to trust us. Your support allows Wellen Construction to invest in meaningful community partnerships across New England, and for that, we’re deeply grateful.
If you have a moment, I hope you’ll learn more about Camp Jabberwocky, the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress, and Bridge Over Troubled Waters. They’re doing extraordinary things for the communities we all share.
Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season,
The Wellen Construction Team
