MAKING A SPLASH

Few projects dramatically enhance the utility of an existing home like an enclosed swimming pool and recreation building (natatorium). Working in the tight constraints of an existing neighborhood, the site work for this project was done by hand, including chipping out ledge. Building materials were craned over the home for staging and placement.

The gunite pool is 40 x 22 feet and finished with hand-laid glass tiles. A hot tub is integrated. Accordion glass doors frame the building and can be sealed in cold weather or opened widely during the summer. Motorized screens roll down to keep out mosquitoes. The glass roof is retractable. The building is heated and cooled with geothermal technology. The interior is finished with teak and beach woods, custom cabinetry and stained glass.
